Marjorie Burchett’s approach brings extensive experience that has seen her clients achieve success across the full spectrum of real estate development.

Having spent many years practicing at San Diego’s Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps and the national and global firms into which it merged, she benefited from working with all sizes of real estate clients, building a deep understanding of the intricacies of real estate development and transactions.  She is well known in the California legal and real estate communities, her pragmatic approach to complex projects and deals has made her a preferred advisor for developers, lenders, receivers, and individual investors on issues related to all types of planned communities, including large-scale master planning, urban high-rise, mixed-use, and commercial developments.

Marjorie also specializes in projects subject to the Residential and Commercial Common Interest Development Acts and requiring approvals from the California Department of Real Estate, where she acts as a key member of the development and consulting team.

Marjorie has acted as national counsel to institutional investors, providing advice on all aspects of the acquisition, rehabilitation, and leasing of their holdings. Additionally, she has a special interest in title insurance matters and has co-authored a CEB treatise on the subject. She is frequently asked to speak on an array of real estate topics and is active in industry groups and committees and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others for the ultimate benefit of her clients.

Marjorie had the opportunity to work with high-net-worth individual clients as a partner in the global Withers law firm, as well as commercial and residential real estate clients as a partner in the San Diego office of the CGS3 Law Firm, before forming her own firm, Marjorie Burchett Law. With this platform, Marjorie has continued to bring all her expertise to clients, collaborating as a key member of development and transactions teams.

Marjorie is actively involved in her community. Her passion for helping improve the lives of the less fortunate leads her to serve in many ways, including her long-time service on the YMCA Overnight Camps Board of Advisors where as the chair of the Emeritus Committee she supports the Boards’ work with camp operations and fundraising to make the camp experience available to all campers.   She has also greatly enjoyed her participation as a volunteer “amigo” for the “niños” at Rancho Genesis, the operator of summer camps and other programs for orphans in Baja California and serves on the Advisory Board of Genesis International Orphanage Foundation, its U.S. non-profit fundraising entity.  Marjorie is an active member of the Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, La Playa Unit, where she serves as a hospital liaison and various aspects of the Unit’s annual “Celebration of Champions” event for cancer patients and their families.
